God Only Made One of You by Justin Cash, video and lyrics

I was listening to this Sunday... a lot of times we think we are not important. That the world can do without you but it is a lie. We are all loved and God wants us to bloom and be happy and he knows us individually.

Monochromatic white fashion this Fall 2012

I'm Rue. I'm not cool enough to be French {although my skirt is! Merci, Paris flea markets!} but Frenchy let me partner up with her anyhow to do a little style post once a month. I adore all things French, fashion, and Frenchy's charming blog. Seriously, I die for her parties. Can I please be that fabulous one day? To learn more about me, find me at Rue Ceri.

Now, let's jump right in, shall we? One of my favorite trends this summer is monochromatic white {as evidenced here, here, and up top.} White is so clean and classy, and I can't get enough of it, so I was thrilled when all the fashion shows this year clearly said that white is finally taking a stand and defying the "no white after Labor Day" rule.  White in mixed textures and hues was all over the runway. So today, I'm going to show you how I autumnize three of my favorite white summer staples, à la monochromatic:

1. The White Pleated Skirt- Thrifted Vintage, similar here

I was super thrilled to find this skirt at a thrift shop this summer, and I loved pairing it with a simple white tee and belt to add a bit of hue variation. Pink lips added some edge.

Tee: J Crew clearance / Belt: Ruche / Shoes: Asos clearance / Bag: Kenneth Cole Reaction via Ross ($20!)

For cooler weather, I exchanged the tee for a long-sleeve blouse, the sandals for boots, and threw on a scarf.  Instead of pink lips, this time I opted for dark cherry. Dark lips are pairing with white outfits to make a chic statement this fall. Check out #9 on this slideshow.

Silk Blouse: Thrifted / Boots: Fossil via Ross ($25 steal!) / Scarf: France / Necklace: J Crew final sale

2. The White Pants- LC Lauren Conrad at Kohls on clearance, similar here

For warmer weather, I rolled up the legs of these pants and threw on a gauzy blouse for an easy, breezy look. The orangey-red lips that J. Crew made so popular this past spring/summer and a mixed metals necklace polished off the outfit with some color and interest.

Blouse: F21 / Shoes: Express clearance / Bag: Kenneth Cole Reaction via Ross

To make this outfit ready to go for fall weather, I simply threw on my boots and a blazer I scored at a consignment shop at the end of last winter for just a few dollars and have been dying to wear.
Blazer: Consigned Michael Kors / Boots: Fossil via Ross / Bag: Kenneth Cole Reaction via Ross

3. The White Dress- Threadcase, similar here and here

Lace is huge this year, so to let this dress stand out, I kept with neutral lips and sandals, and a light chambray jacket for mountain breezes.

Jacket: Old Navy clearance (old) / Sandals: Asos clearance

To make the dress more suitable for fall, I added a cozy sweater and closed-toe shoes. I love the mix of textures with the heavy knit, lace, and leather in this outfit.

Sweater: American Eagle Clearance ($8 steal!) / Shoes: Express clearance

So, what do you think? Do you plan on daring to wear your whites after Labor Day? Let us know in the comments!

P.S. Even the Parisians, known for their love affair with black, have embraced monochromatic white. Check out this street-style shot of a perfectly Frenchy/50s take on the trend. My life suddenly seems so incomplete without a lace headscarf.

Gorgeous French Country Home decor Looks

Hello. I’m Joanna from Design Shuffle, a wonderful website and blog dedicated to interior designer portfolios and interior design ideas for design enthusiasts. I’m honored to be a guest on the lovely Le Chateau de Fleurs blog. Today, I’m sharing some charming French country spaces which will hopefully inspire you in your own decorating pursuits. Enjoy!

Distressed woodwork, subdued hues and ruffles are all common in French country style. This living room mixes period style furnishings such as the ornate arm chairs and rustic secretary.

 French Country Looks
Pops of red give a vibrancy to this living room’s muted palette. All of the furnishings in this space are quite decorative such as the ornately carved settee and daintily painted plates.

 French Country Looks
Layers of pattern are another common element in French country style. This charming dining room features checks and florals along with a patterned rug. The hot air balloon chandelier is lovely. Lots of French country living room decorating ideas can be found in this space.

A linen covered chaise with layers of pattern sits invitingly next to a rustic armoire. Period portraits hang above.

  French Country Looks
This is a modern take on the French country look with its brilliant pink walls and marble tiles floors. A Venetian mirror is flanked by two grey cabinets. The rug mimics the diamond detailing in the tile.

 French Country Looks
Muted green covers the cabinetry of this French country kitchen. Toile patterned panels hang at the windows flanking the stove surround. Pretty red upholstered bar stools pick up the red of the window treatments.

An antique red cabinet is the focal point of this lovely bathroom. The mix between red and pink is a lovely. This space inspires lots of decorating ideas.

Birdhouse and bird color recognition

Before and after
Birdhouse to attract Hummingbirds
Mimi made this super cute Birdhouse. All she needed was paint and a cute door knob.

This week we learned a little bit about birds and colors that attract them. Did you know?

A bird will be attracted to the color of flowers or food it feeds on and also to it's own color.
Red and Pink will attract Hummingbirds.
Orange for Orioles, hummingbirds.
Yellow for Goldfinches, warblers, hummingbirds.
Blue for Bluebirds and jays.

Gray, brown, black and dark green are wonderful for timid birds like doves, quail and other ground feeders.

White should be avoided as it scares birds away and means for them "Danger or predator".

Coastal Fireflies jar craft for kids

My 12 year old wanted this Coastal theme for her Firefly jar. If you read my Fun summer activity for young children article, you will remember the firefly jar activity. If you do not have the little bugs where you live, this craft should be in your to do list. Most people have the supply for this craft. Making it very cheap.

You will need
A Mason Jar,
3 Star fish,
Net ribbon,
1 stick,
Sand,
Hot glue gun,
Parchment paper,
White pipe cleaner,
Glow in the dark paint,
Sea glass color paint

This is how you make the fireflies. Cut you parchment paper in the shape of a peanut.Twist your white pipe piece and wrap it around the smaller part. Paint with glow in the dark the tail part. Let dry.

She painted one star with the glow in the dark paint and the other with the sea glass color paint. Let dry.

To assemble. Place your sand, then hot glue your bugs on stick and inside of the jar. Add the stick.

Hot glue a piece of ribbon on the top of the jar to cover it and around the lid. Glue also the 3 star fish.

At night.
I have more jars coming up. All my kids wanted different jars. Their tastes and interests are all very different.

Coastal Chevron and moss bird house DIY

I thought of making a Chevron Bird house and then the brilliant idea came to cover the roof with moss.
The colors match my interiors, i am into coastal lately, but this house would look amazing with any color.

You will need:
A bird house,
Paint, your choice of colors, here i have white, turquoise blue and lime green.
Painter's tape
Pencil with eraser,
Moss mat available at craft store,
A decorative knob,
Drill for the knob hole.
Hot glue gun.

Paint the bird house body with the white, base and roof with the green

Using your tape, trace a grid and a line in the middle vertically. You want to make rectangles.

I started my Chevron stripe in the middle and then used the tape to get even stripes.

I then painted between the tape stripes, took the tape off and erased the pencil marks. Painted  the Chevron design on all sides.

I covered the roof  with moss using a glue gun. Drilled a hole and screwed the knob.

My bird house collection is growing

I adore the turquoise Chevron stripes! The Chrystal knob is so precious.
Have a super day!
